I think you are analyzing the dream to literally. The subconscious works in symbols and very rarely needs to be taken at face value. However each symbol is subjective to the viewer. I don't doubt that the scenes you experience scare you. I once had a nightmare with lots of blood but the reality of my waking life had some life issues I needed to work out.
