Is it normal that I'm gay but I don't like the stereotypical gay guy

  • Entirely normal.

Hollywood's stereotype of men prancing around being girls with fashion tips is NOT how all gay men are.

There are many gay men out there who prefer the rough-tough look vs the metrosexual look.

I remember doing a report for human sexuality on an article titled "hot leather on a saturday night". It turned out to be one man's experiences in a rough gay bar. Men in loafers and drag weren't even allowed in. You had to be dressed like rough men.

Another good example: John Barrowman from Doctor Who / Torchwood. He's openly gay but he was turned down for a role on Will & Grace because he was told he wasn't "gay enough". They hired a straight man instead because he fit the stereotype.
