Just because you're gay doesn't mean you have to act like the stereotypical, flamboyant homosexual. Half of that is an artificially created persona anyway. As a straight guy with multiple homosexual male friends I can tell you straight men will take you much more seriously if you don't act hyper-effeminate and emotionally unstable.
I understand part of it is probably hormonal and whatnot, but the more control over your emotions and the less overly effeminate you act the easier it is for straight men to feel comfortable around you and respect you.
The truth is most normal straight guys find men who are overly effeminate seriously uncomfortable. And that has little to do with if you're actually homosexual or not.
