My last year of high school I didn't want to go to prom either, for almost the exact same reasons as you, but my friends forced me. It wasn't that great, and I think I've made myself forget it, it wasn't terrible or anything, I mean, i won an award, it's just being there without a date (and everything else you mentioned) made me feel self-conscious and kind of depressed. oh well, you get over it!
