I've never really understood how trying to engineer society's moral values is a very "Christian" thing to do. People should be allowed to make their own choices (as in acting on homosexual impulses, not being a homosexual), right or wrong. Saying that the law should treat gay and straight couples differently is a way of imposing your religion on other people. People should be allowed to make their own decisions and, if the Christian God exists, He will judge them. Conservative Christians seem to understand this on fiscal policy, saying people should be able to spend their money however they want, but not on social issues - in which they are more authoritarian and want to use the law to enforce their beliefs on others. Believing homosexuality is immoral shouldn't lead one to believe gay marriage should not be allowed. Christians believe lying is immoral, yet lying to your spouse doesn't nullify your marriage and I don't hear any Christians saying that it should.
It's not that uncommon, but you are in a minority. Many Christians have no problem with equal rights for homosexuals.
Is it normal that I'm a Christian and I support gay marriage?
