Firstly No it isn't normal. However (brace yourself my train of thought is a bumpy ride) being a very conservative Christian myself I am not necessarily supportive of gay marriage but I'm also not entirely against it. The way I see it homosexuality is a sin plain and simple, but so is getting drunk, having bad thoughts, lying, gluttony and a myriad of other things society as whole sees as "not too bad" . In God's eyes telling a white lie is as bad as homosexual actions which is as bad as murder. There are No grades sin is sin. OK now that ground work is laid my thoughts on government is that laws should only exist to protect people from others so the sin of rape should be illegal because there was a victim but the sin of lustful thoughts should not be illegal because No one was hurt, that is between the perpetrator and God only. so since both parties of the homosexual relationship are consenting to that there is No victim so it should be entirely legal. My only issue with gay marriage lies in the phrase "marriage". Marriage from a biblical perspective is aan and woman coming tigether to form a bond representing the church and Jesus dynamic. Therefore a gay marriage isnt a marriage if we use the biblical term as our benchmark (but many heterosexual marriages also do not measure up to that scrutiny either). But someone who chooses to be involved in a homosexual relationship has every right to make that choice and have the same legal grounds as a heterosexual relationship.
In short they should have the right to have life long commitments recognized with the same rights from a governmental perspective but the terminology of gay MARRIAGE is inaccurate and God would not recognize the relationship on equal grounds as a heterosexual marriage.
Is it normal that I'm a Christian and I support gay marriage?
