I think that the love you have for Sweeney is a really beautiful thing. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I myself am a huge fan of Johnny Depp's roles in Tim Burton's movies. Johnny Depp's talented method of acting really brings the characters to life and makes you feel for them. I love those characters very dearly, in a nonsexual and non-romantic way. I don't understand how anyone can sit there and watch those movies and NOT feel something for them.
I even have a few of those characters as imaginary friends. Yes, that includes Sweeney Todd (though to be honest I tend to spend more time hanging out with Willy Wonka and the Mad Hatter).
