I was given two advices when I went through this stage myself: 1. Nothing in excess! (not even reading); AND 2. There are useful things that cannot be learnt from books (this one I crashed into). By the way, be sure that what you read is actually well written and edifying, not merely entertaining (down with the "best sellers"!). You can never go wrong with the classics and if you haven't had the chance to meet them I suggest the "Harvard Classics" collection. I wish I had stumbled upon them in my day.

Most of the time I'm reading either classics, historical fiction, and sometimes mangas. I rarely take an interest in bestsellers.
