Im exactly in the same position except i moved away so im constanly texting him but that can be overwhlemimg for him i notice he doesn't text back as fast or much i brought it too his attention and he said he needs space which kinda mad me upset because we dont even get to see each other in person anymore thats pretty spacey enough..but you just have to understand and train yourself to give him time to.himself or your just gonna ruin the whole relationship like i did ..once your with eachother long enough you wont be as clingy and you ll get over wanting to be and talking to him constantly this is just the beginning and your really into him right now so i think its pretty damn normal
