I think it is normal. Personally, I don't like it and will take a bus to work if there is one that's convenient. I'd rather have an hour to read a book, than spend twenty minutes on the road avoiding the horrendous driving mistakes others make. People seem to forget that if they don't pay attention to how they are driving they could easily murder someone.
