Is it normal that i like to sit on the toilet while my pain meds kick in?

I’ve had a couple very intense surgeries a few years ago and have had horrible pain ever since. I take 2 pain pills per day now to manage. However, right after the surgeries I would get extremely constipated from the pain pills so I would sit on the toilet and try to poop before they kicked in. It’s become almost like a ritual. These days, I don’t take enough to become constipated but I still like to sit on the toilet for 30-60 minites while they kick in. It’s just so relaxing but also feels like a huge waste of time so I’ve started studying and whatnot during my time on the toilet and now refer to the bathroom as “the office”. Am I a freak?

    I'm pretty sure they make something that helps with pain killer constipation...i would ask your doctor about it. Either way it's not healthy to be so dehydrated all the time from them so if it's that hard to go I would inquire

      Hardcore eat fiber. It really does help. Prunes, dates, and drink coffee.

    I guess it's normal. You said you're doing it because it's relaxing. Well, keep "relaxing" then. There's no harm to it.

    We are creatures of habit. When I was younger I would use my spit as lube when I jerked off. Even though I haven't done this regularly in years I still salivate when I'm about to jerk

    you are still taking pain meds , im concerned you are addicted , would you like to stop. treatment centers just use opiates of another class. its childish really. anyone with half a brain sees they are not even giving it a try.

      I’ve tried just about every other medication and nothing has worked. I’m definitely not addicted though, I only take them on days when the pain is really severe

    Normal.

    Plenty of people enjoy sitting on the toilet for peace & quiet. Reading newspapers/magazines, playing angry birds & opening bills/post are all things that can be enjoyed on the loo.
