Is it normal that i like to feel my bones?

I'm not a skinny girl, I'm a size 14. I feel fat and gross and revolting and like I'm not even worth the love and attention my fiance gives me. So, with my body image issues, sometimes if I roll over in bed and accidentally graze my hip bone or collar bone with my hand I'll stop and try to feel every bone I can. Ribs, collar bones, hip bones, wrists, ankles... It makes me feel smaller. I'll dig my fingers into my body to feel them even past when it starts to hurt. "If I can feel my bones then I can't be too massive" is I guess where my head goes. Is it normal to do that?

  • I am absolutely positive that I read a article recently berating the fashion industry for designing clothes for sizes 0 to 2, when the average size sold was a 12 to 14.

    • I wouldn't even be a little surprised.

  • Normal but I'm sorry to say if you're size 14 USA, you're obese and not close to small.

    • You literally just said what I said above. I fucking know I'm fat, thank you. I said feeling my bones makes me feel small. Like, gives me a moment of not despising myself like I do every other second of my life.

  • No. I have an eating disorder, and I love to feel my bones.

  • Normal. I used to do the same when I used to be overweight.

  • Be careful with that type of behaviour. I did the exact same thing and more, when I was in the midst of my eating disorder.

    • I've actually noticed that I feel.. proud of myself? I guess is the best way to put it? When I feel hunger pains. Should I be worried about that too...? Thank you for being so open about something that can be quite difficult to talk about.

      • You're welcome.Eat if you feel hungry. Never starve yourself. Feeling proud of being able to feel your bones is concerning. Your goal should just be to be healthy.
