  • That’s not normal. I know what it’s like to self harm, as I do it a lot, so I won’t tell you to “just stop”, give you one of those crappy one liners, or give you a hotline number that can trace your location and give it to police. That kind of stuff always annoyed me and never helped me.

    But please, one fourth of a cup of blood for every bad day you have is NOT healthy and could potentially give you medical problems in the future. Especially since you are female and lose a lot of blood due to menstruation.

    Try cutting your blood intake down? If you have a just a tad on good and bad days, I wouldn’t see it as that bad of a problem.

    As for wanting to end your problem, seek therapy. I know it sounds cliche, but you can’t get professional help from strangers on the internet. Unfortunately, we can’t always be there for you, and there are lots of assholes on this site.

    EDIT: If you find it hard to cut down the amount of blood you consume...
    -Try distracting yourself. If you get the urges, get yourself some water, or whatever beverage you like and play a game, or listen to music, or do anything that would distract you. Do this for about ten to twenty minutes.
    -Decrease the amount of blood you drink SLOWLY. It is very difficult to end a habit or addiction quickly.
    -A very cliche answer, but vent about whatever’s bothering you in a journal. Talk to someone. You don’t HAVE to talk to a therapist, just someone you trust not to make a fuss about your venting.
    -Try eating or something that tastes like blood instead of having large amounts of the real thing? Salty water isn’t far off. It’s got the taste, but not the texture.
