Is it normal that I like pretty much every drug except weed?

  • Madame, if you please.

Why do you want sources for me to prove a fact that I immediately went on to say held no bearing? You seem to have *such* an extremely itchy "I must defend marijuana against someone not even attacking it!!!" finger you failed to notice I didn't bad-mouth the plant at all. In fact I personally believe it's no more harmful than tobacco smoke or alcohol. I believe it could be argued quite easily that it's *less* harmful. That being said, facts are facts, and even though I'm "on your side" I can't very well sit idly by and allow ignorance to be a tool people on the "legalize it!" side use in their campaign. Facts are necessary.

Fact: Smoking marijuna (and any burned and inhaled organic matter) kills brain cells.

Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs after enough inhalation of carbon monoxide (CO). Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas, but, being colorless, odorless, tasteless, and initially non-irritating, it is very difficult for people to detect. Carbon monoxide is a product of incomplete combustion of organic matter due to insufficient oxygen supply to enable complete oxidation to carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon monoxide is toxic to all aerobic forms of life. It is easily absorbed through the lungs. Inhaling even relatively small amounts of the gas can lead to hypoxic injury, neurological damage. [1]

Fact: Marijuana has not been shown to cause long-term cognitive impairment.

The short-term effects of marijuana include immediate, temporary changes in thoughts, perceptions, and information processing. The cognitive process most clearly affected by marijuana is short-term memory. In laboratory studies, subjects under the influence of marijuana have no trouble remembering things they learned previously. However, they display diminished capacity to learn and recall new information. This diminishment only lasts for the duration of the intoxication. There is no convincing evidence that heavy long-term marijuana use permanently impairs memory or other cognitive functions. [2]

    • Thank you for that excellent piece of information. I offer no rebuttal this time, as I know that I am beat as you did go through all of the effort into typing all of the sources neccesary for me to be convinced of you and your support of cannabis and that it can be possibly negative in some aspects. It still does not change my prospects or ethics, but I do appreciate the fact that you had put an exceptional amount of work into your last post.
