Not really. I had an older sister who was always very much the favourite and got all the attention. She is three years older than me and when you're young that seems like an eternity. She never got punished for anything and before she was 10 learned how easy it was for her to get me into troubled with my parents by telling tales. Before she was 12 she learned that the tales didn't have to actually be true. From that point onwards I was doomed. If I didn't do exactly as she said she'd make up something wrong that I'd done, tell one of our parents and I'd be punished usually with the cane but sometimes in other ways. At first I used to try and tell them that it wasn't true but that just made it worse because then they'd punish me more for lying to them. They'd punish me for whatever I was meant to have done. Punish me for not admitting it. Punish me for lying to hem. Punish me for calling her a liar. Then they'd make me apologise to them and apologise to her and my apologies weren't good enough I could expect some more.
