It's a different sort of relationship than normal, but I think it's perfectly fine as long as it's consensual between the two of you, however I'd be a little bit cautious in case he goes a bit too controlling, but as long as you both have a healthy respect for each other and communicate then it shouldn't.
Also, as long as he doesn't try to stop you from seeing your friends. I wouldn't mention it to your friends too casually in case they think he's being controlling.
