Is it normal that i like music better when it is not mainstream?

It's normal if you listen to non-mainstream music because it sounds good to you.

It's not normal if you listen to non-mainstream music just because fewer people are listening to it. That's what makes hipsters pretentious - the feigned interest in stuff which is alternative to fit in. It's not genuine.

Normality is listening to what sounds good to you because it sounds good to you, irrespective of its relative popularity :)

Normal. Mainstream music appears to sound the same. All there is now is just party music. Rarely any mainstream songs nowadays have feelings behind their music. I can understand where you're coming from.

Totaly the same man, mainstream on a whole with very few exceptions sucks.

Most of the mainstream music is crap, its nothing but the same few words with obnoxiously loud beats behind it.

I like rock, alternative, metal, and classic country.

Same, most mainstream music just isn't impressive. Some of it is fun to listen to though. But I like less popular music a bit more. Bayside's songs have meaning behind them, so I don't know why they're not one of the most famous bands out there.
