Is it normal that i like it when someone says something endearing?

I come from a dysfunctional family and had very tough luck with making or keeping friends. And I always missed having loving family and friends. I never knew what it is like to have family members tell me "I love you" or I am here for you. So every time an adult ( I am an adult myself but I mean someone older than me) calls me endearing names such as " sweetheart, honey or sweetie etc. I always get attached to them. Is that normal and how do I stop that kind of attachment?
