Is it normal that I like color pink?

  • A lot of people these days are making it cool to seem tomboyish or something. Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" for example is literally her saying she's the girl the guy she is hitting on should date because she's not girly. It is absolutely fucking ridiculous. I think the hatred for pink has less to do with the fact it is linked with Barbie and more to do with the fact that a lot of societal standards for women are being reversed. It's similar to "real women have curves!" or when people say "women look better without make-up and in sweats!" I think a lot of people are catching on to the damage it is causing women to project beauty standards onto them, but all it is doing is creating new beauty standards. It's really unfair. Nothing is wrong with make-up or being feminine.

The worst part is that these things are mostly feminine because we say they are. If my favorite color was black, would that mean I was goth? No, so it should be the same for the color pink. I will never understand why girls who like the color blue aren't considered tomboys or lesbians but guys who like the colors pink or purple are considered effeminate or gay. Like you said, pink is just a color. Many people who like barbies and fashion hate pink, and many people who like pink hate barbies and fashion. It doesn't matter. Personally my favorite color is dark blue, but it used to be light pink and I still like light pink a lot. Don't care about what people think you should like or the implications they place on you for liking such a color. They don't mean anything.
