You're living by old-fashioned terms. In the fifties and earlier it was custom that the man bring home the bacon while the women either did housework or go out and spend the man's bacon on herself.
Times have changed now and it's expected of both partners to pull their weight. He shouldn't be expected to do all the work while live off of him. You seem to live upperclass lives, but you won't be able to do that forever. Times are tough and things are expensive. Nothing is free or cheap. Well I do the laundry and some grocery shopping, the house is too big for just myself to clean anyway and it doesnt cost much to have someone come in to do it. We dont always have a chef I can cook some stuff.

I contribute by doing the housework myself or at least trying to cook, though last time I almost started a fire, thats why we hired the chef.
