It's normal. It often comes from real or imagined resentment of someone close. This occurs in real life, too. Think of the little kid who kicks, hits, and "hates" his older brother, now that he's gone off to college. Or think of the tween boys who start to like girls and "torture" the girls because they're not boys. This episode of "Boy Meets World" (info below) has exactly what you've described going on.
