Is it normal that i hear voices?

On random days, in no appearance order, I hear voices. They're mumbled together like a crowd's voice. It's not loud and I tend to ignore it unless I'm alone. Then I try to seperate voices. Some say,
Help us.
It's my fault.
Our would is chaos.
Everyone's imprisoned.
I've never had them before and it started in October. I've never had a mental illness. I'm on no medication. I'm not depressed and am a pretty happy person. I've dealt with no death.
Also, I get weird feeling. I start to feel pain where I havnt been hit and get a cut where I don't remember cutting it on anything. Then I get weird feelings like happiness when I'm sad or something. What's wrong?

This isn't the place to find help. Most people don't hear voices so we can't help you. Try finding help somewhere else

As an aspiring psychologist (who sometimes hears voices myself), I would be far, far more concerned about the fact that you seem to be blacking out. Do you get drunk? Do drugs? Anything that could be making you black out? Blacking out is scary business. The voices your hearing may be a sort of parallel to the world we are currently living in, but that's simply my own interpretation of your experiences especially given that it's a crowd's voice. The blacking out bit is quite concerning though because you have no idea what your doing during that time. Also, do these cuts look possibly self inflicted? or not? Because there is a frightening thing that sometimes occurs with people suffering from black outs where they engage in self injurious or even downright suicidal behaviors during a period of amnesia. This is what concerns me more than anything else that you have said in this post and yes, I do think you should seek therapy

  • yeah I don't know about this one. You notice these cuts on yourself that you don't know where they came from and you hear these people in your head telling you to help them. Go get this looked into or maybe just knowing that its part of yourself would be enough for you to get a handle on things. Good luck with that

You don't have to have a mental disorder, you could be psychic:) Good Luck and hone your talents:)

If you can rule out schizophrenia then you may want to talk to a psychic. I know it sounds crazy but sometimes crazy is exactly what you need. But I'm not convinced the schizophrenics are wrong. (having known both)

There is a fine line between gift and curse. Protect yourself, your mind that is. Ask the voices what they want. I'm curious, what information do they have to share?

Pyschics, really. Maybe you could then ask santa for help. If you really do hear voices then either learn to live with them or seek a shrink.

  • Yeah sure its true. The only thing thats true here is that your like every other poster who says they hear voices. All they want is to feel special and different and try to do so by lying.

Well I actually do and am not making it up in the least. Rather than bragging about it to people, I hide this fact from most other people and have shared it with only two people in the entire history of my life. Sadly, myself and other people experience inner voices are discriminated against in society if they were to talk about their experiences. To be honest, when it first began to happen, I was rather alarmed as you would expect and it took me a little while to be accept this part of myself so I doubt people just go around lying that they hear voices for attention. Even psychiatrists/psychologists turn their backs on people with these sorts of experiences by sometimes throwing them in insane asylums where they often don't belong and on rare occasion, even keeping them imprisoned there for the rest of their lives when they never did anything illegal or harmed anybody.

  • Ugh ffs another "I hear voices" story you know your lying and its obvious because if all the people who said "I hear voices" were actualy true then 60% of the world would be hearing voices.

There should be a lock that keeps these attention seeking idiots off this site.

Well you can add me to the supposed 60%, though I don't think it's quite that many probably more like 5 or 10 percent according to the studies that are done on it, but that's still a lot when you think about it. There are lots of causes besides schizophrenia, in fact, schizophrenia is a relatively uncommon illness. Most people who hear voices are not schizophrenic and a significant portion are not mentally "ill" other than their experiences of hearing voices

      • I was very negative once upon a time. Although, I still think I had good reason to be. You wouldn't believe the amount of stories that were being uploaded back then, all people saying they hear voices in their heads. At first I was thinking it might be a problem (First person that I seen with a story like this) but then I noticed about 60% of the people on the site at that time were saying the same thing, which is completely unbelievable.

        • I am not sure about that. I doubt this guy is making it up, who would make up a story about something like this. If a lot of people posted things about having heard things in their head, its probably because a lot of people have problems with that and never talk about it publicly for fear of sounding "crazy". However, if this guy is noticing cuts on himself and claims that he hears things so frequently and that they tell him things like "help me" sounds like things that would raise alarm bells in almost anyone's mind

I see where you're coming with this.

I often try to see things from different levels at the same time.

There are so many things that can cause hearing voices in one's mind.
They say that Schizophrenia is fairly common, but I doubt that it is the entire cause for the 60%. It could be anywhere from a head injury to poor nutrition.
But, it's still good to consider all possibilities and rule out the ones you don't need. It makes you wonder how many people have been properly diagnosed and how many haven't at all, but still need to.

Where it gets on your nerves, I guess it is like the seemingly endless supply of bestiality and incest stories on here. You know no matter how insane a story of that caliber is, there will also be that one person who purposefully votes "Normal".
