Is it normal to have the urge to smoke when I study? I would like to add that this urge is uber amplified when I'm on my ADHD meds

Yes, it is normal. It has probably something to do with the way how brain responds to nicotine and how nicotine (and its absence) influence the brain. Mental work (or stress) makes the brain need it.
I have observed the same thing on myself many times - the more I have to concentrate on something mentally or the more stress I have to face, the more I usually smoke at that time.

I was lucky our school taught us the best scientific ways to study accurately.

The brain can concentrate best for 15mins -then best after a 5min break. That's probably where the cigarette urge comes in.

They also taught that you learn 10% by reading.
    40% by repetition....
    Loads of other stuff but...
90% by teaching what you want to learn by teaching it (as it makes you consider the information). Sounds lame but I didn't have anyone to teach so I pretended I was teaching my dog about maths, science.
I got A in everything I tried to teach her.

Do you think it's because studying is stressful, and you relieve the stress by smoking? If that's the case, then I think it makes sense that every time you study you need a smoke.

Smoke what? Any how, it will most likely not hinder you. May relax you but hopefully not too much.

It is a vile habit but I know entirely what you mean.

Could not do any kind of work without it!
