Is it normal that I have a phobia of catching HIV everywhere?

  • I'm exactly the same, and I drive everyone insane asking if I stepped on "AIDS needles", if someone stabbed me with something, if a red spot is "AIDS blood", etc. I got sick two weeks after visiting the dentist and was convinced I'd contracted HIV. I hate touching people and things that people touch, in case of the open cuts/blood on their hands, or just leaving tainted blood everywhere. It's not normal - it's irrational fears and OCD. My head doctor said to write down when/where you had a thought of catching AIDS, reread everything, and try to see how silly it is. Good luck! It's been with me for years now! And I'm a "good girl", with one monogomous partner for 6 years!
