We all see love in different ways, it's not a bad thing. He might even learn something about love if you tell him how you feel.
I have similar tendencies when it comes to the 'Iloveyou' word. I feel that it is something so strong that if I say it, it will lose value. You naturally want to save it. The I love you word gives the most intense effect when said in the right moment and that's all it's supposed to be.
Encourage him to just think about it and smile. You will know :)
