If it's a bit of a random distraction thing, it's probably not harmful...idk that I'd say it's normal.
If you find that you can't stop doing it, or it feel comforted when you do it, you may want to talk to someone. Trichotillomania can be a response to or symptom of life stress you're unaware of (small pain response, plus that little obsessive feeling of finding hairs & the satisfaction of yanking them out). lt can also be progressive...which can lead to you pulling out eyebrow hairs or head hairs (which can lead to embarrasing bald spots).
Guess it's like every fucking habit...do it once in a while, no biggie...get obsessed, ya got problems
