Is it normal that i hate the sound and feel of styrofoam

Whenever I buy new things that come in a cardboard box, I actually try to delay opening it just so I wouldn't have to feel and hear the styrofoam brush against the cardboard. For me it sounds like nails on the chalkboard.

Is It Normal?

  • Well, the hate of sound could be associated to Misophonia (literally hatred of sound), as for styrofoam that could be you are a highly sensitive person? They have problems with sounds and the way things feel.

For instance: I don't like loud noises and hate the feels of certain textures.

  • Me too, I still have memories of unpacking my microscope as a kid and that awful sound. Eww!

  • You sound like my brother. I think just about everyone has a sound they can't stand.

  • I hate it as well. You may have sensory problems. If this happens with other things as well, I would recommended mentioning it to your doctor.

  • Sounds like you had a bad experience with Styrofoam. I've got nothing against the stuff and personally think it's cool, but if you hate it then you hate it. We recently bought a new Acer laptop and I was kind of disappointed that there was no Styrofoam in it just cardboard packaging.
