Is it normal that I hate people being elitist about reading?

  • I can honestly say I've learned more from fiction than from most other things. I'd never want to be elitist about it, though, or make other people feel insecure about not being well-read. I'll always say they are missing out and I will always try to introduce them to books that changed me but, ultimately, it's their life, and I don't judge.

I will sometimes say, though, that people imagine someone is being elitist when they themself feel insecure about something. Flutterhigh will know what it's called if it has a name.

Fiction teaches you in a different manner, books have opened worlds for me and encouraged me to start thinking, learning and exploring at a young age.

For that reason I love to encourage my friends to read, and I loan out a lot of books to people. When something has had such a positive impact on your life, you want to share it with others. :)

Oh, but I do agree. Reading Twilight is just as bad if not worse than watching Jersey Shore.
