Is it normal that i hate my generation?

i find they are all racist, brainwashed, scum, following the next sheep to the slaughterhouse. why couldn't i have been born earlier? i fit in with no one. still, everyday I'm becoming more and more like them. i hate COD, i hate Halo, i hate lady gagas and katy perrys, i hate jersey shores, they make me sick of being alive. i think one day i'll be adding this to my suicide note.

  • Every generation has good and bad. The key is to focus on the good.

"What if there is no good?"

Then see the untapped potential for good.

If you had been born earlier all the racism and lack of individualism would have been a lot worse. Move out of the south.

I hate my generation too. The guys are disgusting assholes who treat women like shit and always get what they want, and the women have no respect for themselves and basically give it to them. Friends betray each other and there is no loyalty anywhere. I feel like the black sheep a lot of the time. Might be slightly off topic but it's just how I feel.

So be a good example for your generation and like minded people will be drawn to you.

It's not the whole generation. For example I live in an upper middle class English society and everyone is very tolerant (I'm out about being bisexual and I'm not even teased), the main music listened to is alternative rock and the main game played is minecraft :P. However there is also a lot of cod and Halo.

  • Another one of these. Just stop taking yourself and everything else so seriously and life will seem much easier.
And don't hate on Gaga, she deserves better.

How can people be racist AND brainwashed, if the media nowadays is owned by the jews?

AMEN! If only time machines existed...but racism and sexism back then was just as bad/worse as today. Oh well...guess I'm stuck.

I hate almost everyone my age. Everybody just follows everybody else. If you do different, then you are wrong by default. Nobody is a free-thinker, and if you try and be one then you inevitably get left out, so your only friends are other weird people.

To be honest, it's never been any different. It was like that when I was 16 and it was like that when my dad was at school.

I'm starting to get involved in the union movement and we have a mailing list of a couple of thousand people (most of them colleagues). Last week, I saw three of them using the list for this kind of bullying and discrimination, albeit politely and cleverly (although not clever enough for to see through). Two of them are in their fifties! They do the same thing they did at school. Just with more subtlety. It was horrible to watch.

Truth of it is, people have to learn to play the game. From your posts, you remind me of me. I used to expect people to play fair, to acknowledge my talents, and to be inclusive. Now I expect nothing and I'm quite happy to roll my sleeves up and play politics.

  • You're really contemplating the idea of suicide because you hate a lot of pop culture icons and video games?! Man, you need a grip on reality. There is so much more out there than that shit. Move to another country and throw yourself into a new environment if you don't like the one you're in now. Not everywhere is like America (I'm going out on a limb assuming you're American.)

What is stopping you from finding something you DO like? Nobody cares if you find things of your own to be interested in. When l was younger, I did not like the wishee washee plastic music my friends liked, and l found stuff that I enjoyed..and when l left school I found that there were lots of people just like me. Go out and do your own thing and stop concerning yourself with how others think and what they like. Good for you for even noticing it, and be brave and stand alone...You will soon meet others like yourself. Suicide will not change other peoples choices and behaviour, so why end your life over it. Go out and live your life as you chose to. Nobody forcing you to be like them.

Racism was way worse in like the 1930s, as someone here previously stated.

And our generation isn't THAT bad. I just don't obsess over what's popular at the moment, unlike the majority of people my age.

Ahw, Rockers and Punkers are the nice people. I'm more worried about the ones wearing ties.:D

But what kind of people do you hang around with? Nobody I know watches Jersey Shore, Lady Gaga or things like that. But I'm guessing the 'old time' people you like are probably the Gaga's of their time.

I think people should get some perspective. 'Hating' pop culture is probably one of the most pop things one can do. Like all the 'Goth'-teens complaining about the herd-nature of normal people, while they are all wearing black and complaining about the same thing. They too, need some perspective. Probably some reflection. (Ahw Goth's and Punks, they were fun, bit sad they don't exist anymore.)

Just do what you want to do. Don't mind the others. And damn, actually get to know people. I'm someone who people generally avoid. (Appearance) But when I talk to some princess-pop looking girl I don't expect her to be shallow/into pop stuff like that. And contrary to what people think, they usually aren't. Don't judge people before you know them. That's just the ignorant behaviour you expect others to show, after you've based your opinion on pop media. Kind of ironic actually:D

I sort of understand what you mean, and have discussed this with other adults.

I often fear for my son working in an office alone dealing with the low-lifes in society. I seriously expect that at some point doctors / lawyers / professionals will have a glass screen to protect them from these people while alone in an office. I'm planning a well-trained guard dog to protect my son against being attacked. Even when they're being helped, some of these idiots are extremely abusive to the people trying to help them!

However, maybe previous generations feared the rockers, mods, punks, etc and then they all grew up. I don't know... but it is a worry! Not worth dying for though! That would be letting them have free rein ;o)

All those people you mention are media creations, like itduz said. They are NOT your generation. Don't get confused.

yes, true. But in the past there were many in the pop culture who got to the public awareness through something other than total media creation.

Everyone on jersey shore for example, is a media creation , with no personal achievements worthy of them being famous. but there was a time when people like albert einstein, arturo tuscannini, martin luther king, etc were also part of that pop culture.

today all the "famous" people are either scum bags or soon to be exposed as scum bags. And they are mostly just famous for being famous.
