Is it normal that i hate my cat?

I fucking hate my cat. When I say she never stops I mean she NEVER STOPS. She attacks me and other people 90% of the time we interact with her. No matter what food we give her she always pukes it back up. She is always running around and only ever stops to eat, poop, sleep, or to clean herself. She never just sits there like other cats do. For the most part she is ok with my other cat but she does attack him as well. When she licks herself she looks like she is spazzing out and shaking alot. And the big kicker, yeah its normal that cats freak out when they get washed in the tub, but its gotten so bad to the point that myself and other people who help me have gotten seriously injured. Its gotten to the point that I might have to sedate her just to give her a bath.
I might have to sedate her just to have a normal home life or rehome her to someone who us better equiped to handle her.
TDLR: I fucking hate my cat because she is WAY more trouble that she is worth and is ruining my quality of life at home. Is that normal? Any advice?

  • Your cat is egotistical and a hypochondriac.
Did you hear what he said?

Why are you bathing your cats?

Cats are perfectly capable of keeping themselves clean, so why the hell do you give your cat baths?

I've had lots of cats over the years, and the only time I've ever bathed one is when it got something really nasty on it's coat (like filthy grease from the underside of a car) that it would have been unhealthy for it to lick off itself.

Unlike dogs, domesticated cats are not pack animals by nature. They're territorial creatures, and whenever you have more than one cat in a household - and especially if they're never allowed to go outside - there is very often conflict. Some cats are capable of getting along with others, but even when two or more cats usually coexist in a space reasonably peacefully, it's normal for occasional spats to happen because being forced to live in each other's territory is not natural for cats.

It sounds like you're forcing your cat to interact with you when she doesn't want that. Maybe that's because she wasn't handled by people from the time she was a kitten, but what you say about her constantly running around suggests that she's feeling trapped and looking for a way out. Basically, cats prefer to be left alone. If you want an animal you can play with, get a dog.

Everything you say leads me to think that your home is a very stressful environment for the cat, and she's just generally very unhappy and constantly agitated. It would be better for you and the cat if you found a new home for her with an owner who has a better understanding of the needs of cats.

Sounds like you should give it to someone else.

PLEASE take your cat to the Veterinarian. It may have distemper, rabies, a brain infection or tumor, ticks or fleas, a broken bone, a toothache, a skin ailment making her sensitive, worms, etc., all of which would give her a naturally shitty disposition.

Also, STOP giving the cat a bath !! Cat's are excellent swimmers, when they have to, but otherwise hate water/ getting wet, generally speaking. They absolutely DO NOT LIKE being submerged !!

The TV Channel: Animal Planet, has a show called "My Cat From Hell" .... try watching it, and you might get some tips, on her behavior ? (web link): https://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/my-cat-from-hell/

If the Vet gives a 100% clean bill-of-health, then leave her alone, and give her some space. Let HER come to YOU, for affection / attention.

I sincerely HOPE you are more frustrated, than you are "hateful" towards your cat.
As the saying goes: "Does she have a bug in her ass" so to speak?

Get to the Vet ..... a.s.a.p.

Where did you get this cat? Maybe the cat was previously abused, and or neglected? There's also the possibility that your cat may have been taken away from it's mother, and littermates way too early. Maybe your cat didn't get enough human contact when it was little? That sort of thing can cause a cat to be wary, and untrusting of humans.

As far as the bathing thing is concerned it depends on the cat of course. The majority of cats don't like water very much. My cat let's me bath him, and trim his nails, but I have had him since he was 9 weeks old, and I got him used to being bathed, and having his nails trimmed when he was little. Some people will insist that cats don't need to be bathed like dogs, but I have allergies so it was essential to get him used to the process when he was little. Now it's no big deal for us. If your cat is as difficult as you say then perhaps you ought to take him to a professional groomer who specializes in grooming cats? I have also brushed my cat regularly since he was little which has always been a great bonding experience for the both of us!

I think that you guys should also take the cat to the vet to make sure it's up to date on all shots, and that there are no health issues present which might be adversely affecting it's behavior.

I would highly recommend that you watch the show My Cat From Hell with cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy! Get books on cat behavior, and cat health then read like you're starving for knowledge. Make sure your cat has some good interactive toys, like the toys that are like fishing rods. Cats need playtime, and stimulation.

I also think you should consider any other cats, or dogs that you have in your household, if your new cat is lashing out at other animals in your household it might not be a good fit for your family.

You can return the cat to the shelter if it's not working out and no one would blame you.

Drama queen or troll. You sound like one of those POS's who just buys baby animals because "omg it's so cute" and then gets mad that it's still around for the rest of its lifespan. Also this story is posted like every month, probably just some "catfree" weirdo.

What you need right here is a poll.
