Is it normal that i hate lazy mooches?

I work as much as I can(40+hrs/wk), I struggle to pay bills and rent, feed family, but all these people who expect the gov to provide for them. Own houses, new cars, take vacations. And I can't get $200 in "foodstamps" to help feed my family.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Can I borrow $50?
I'm unemployed at the moment. I'll pay you back in food stamps.

  • IT TURNS OUT not everybody has the same resources and opportunities, and not everybody can pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

    • All but the physically and mentally challenged. It takes a sense of responsibility, and fearing nothing but failing.

      No boohoos for bleeding hearts

      • If someone is physically or mentally unable to work, they may qualify for social security dissability. If they are out of work, they may qualify for a lifetime total of 24 months of temporary assistance. If someones income is below a
certain level, they may be eligible for foodstamps. No one gets rich off any of it and most people collecting any of it probably never imagined themselves in the position to have to recieve the help.

  • I get SSI and I feel like the biggest fucking loser in the world. i want to get a job so bad.. I was working but I have mental breakdowns and lose touch with reality and do something that terminates my job. It's horrible. I'm trying to get my ass in gear amd get a grip. It really sucks. Providing everything for myself feels like a dream that will never come trye. I'm really trying though.

    • Like I said those that have circumstances which prevent them from working should use it.
In Texas I received assistance to get training in a trade. You have what is known as a Workforce disability.
      They do verify this ofcourse.
Your state may have similar programs. I selected truck driver. They paid tuition in full. I have had my cdl now for 13 yrs.

  • It's amazing how some people can come from meager beginnings and become something better, but most become the same or worse....amazing but necessary. And if those who seem to not be able to crawl out of that hole can't or won't do so, and can't figure out how, then oh well.

  • I have absolutely no idea why but I was compelled into choosing "Im a woose and the gov should suport me and wipe my poopy butt" hahaha! What a great answer!!!

  • Yes, I understand all about the work permit, but its not the point here.
the point is self discipline, responsibility and being a productive, unburdening citizen.

  • The legal working age is 14. You have to apply for a worker's permit (you don't if you're 16) but you can work at 14.

    • W/out the permit, silly

      • But it's not that hard to get a permit. Less paper work than your driver's license. And I think it's free. If a kid really needed a job they just need a work permit and a meeting at the goodwill job connection.

I like it the way it is. I don't think the standard age should be 14. I'm kind of against child labor.

        • Where I live they don't give you a permit untill you get a job. :/

        • Yeah I got mine from my school, it was a one-page form (before the internet and all that!!), took about a minute. I knew a couple kids who got hardship driver's licenses as well, which wasn't as easy but they did it and it's available for those who need it. They were 14 and the driving age was 16.

Can't make it too easy, people would be cheating that, so I agree with strict rules on driving privileges.
