Nature DOES rule the world - we're part of nature and at the mercy of it.
What we do is natural in so much as we are bound by the laws of nature and have evolved to become the most successful, resourceful and creative animals on the planet naturally.
It's a dog eat dog world, and top dog is humanity. This probably won't always be the case, but it's the reason you can sit there and pour hatred on to your species using the elaborate technology we've constructed. Our success is probably the reason you exist at all, and have lived as long as you have.
Of course, we could be more cautious in the way we adapt the world to our preference. After all, it has to last - we don't have another Earth to call home (at the moment). But we're only now in a position to be cautious - it has taken a lot of destruction, a lot of consumption, a lot of ploughing forth into the depths of the unknown with reckless curiosity to get to where we are, to where many of us have the time and energy to reflect on our impact upon the world.
Now wisdom can guide humanity's hand.
If you truly believe we are a blight upon the planet, then you could always escape to the wilderness (there is still wilderness to escape to). Abandon everything you obtained from humanity. EVERYTHING:
- Electronics: phone, laptop, watch, the internet etc.
- Clothes: anything you haven't made yourself from materials you've salvaged
- Medicine: no antibiotics, pain killers, anti-septic etc. also no glasses/contact lenses, tampons, contraception etc.
- Tools: no utensils inc. knives, no bags, no metal or plastic objects of any sort, no bottles, no pens, no paper etc.
See how long you last, making it on your own using just what's around you, without any helping hand from human society. See what kind of quality of life you have, if you prefer it to the comparatively privileged situation you're in now.
