  • Most countries or empires that have hit an apex of dominance, power, or empire building, turn self-reflective when the summit is reached, power balances shift, and they find themselves climbing down the other side.

The last century of my own country's history has been like this, turning us first into apologists, and then jaded cynics (an attitude, in itself, that has not endeared us to America, as we seem negative, critical, and picky yet meek).

There's no guarantee that America will evolve the same way but the early signs are there. I find this a very interesting period of your country's development.

Don't take personally the criticism you receive as a country (or more accurately, the "idea" of what your country is). It's not only misdirected; it's often wrong.

I'm not saying you should love your country blindly, just because that's the bit of soil your parents were on at the time of your birth. But you should be balanced in your view. Just as you should be balanced about other countries.
