I think this could be an extension of the uncanny valley for you. The uncanny valley is basically the phenomenon of how startlingly life-like things, such as robots made to look nearly human, but not quite, creep people out.
Maybe since you have the problem with seeing actual people as being real, for you the uncanny valley phenomenon is triggered by regular dolls.
That's just my theory, though. Don't know how valid it is.
