I hate - and hated - clapping too, for the exact same reasons!
I once had my hands over my ears at a talent show in primary school because I couldn't stand the clapping and I got told off for it... Only years later that I realise why I did what I did.
The only way I find it fractionally comfortable to do is if I cup my hands and clap them together like a cheerleader.
Apparently, appaluse for deaf people just involves grinning and waving your hands like you're screwing and unscrewing a jar really quickly. [So I heard when I used to do St. John's Ambulance]
Is it normal that I hate clapping my hands?
