In my experience, it's sudden loud bangs/noises, but when it comes to people it's deep male voices that get me. For example, at a previous job, I had a great boss who was 6'4" or taller, I don't know, with the deepest voice I've ever heard and couldn't get use to right away. So often times when he would randomly call me while I was doing something, I would practically jump out my shoes at the sound of his voice. I found the whole thing to be embarrassing, he found it very amusing.
But yeah, you're not alone. I was also diagnosed with GAD in my teens.
IIN that I get startled whenever someone talks to me out of the blue?
