Is it normal that i get short blackouts of memory when i talk to people?

When i’m talking with people and they tell me something, i get a short blackout of memory what to respond. This happens to me almost all the time! I’m running out of words to respond and i almost have like nothing in my head to say. And i’m also having trouble focusing on others talking when they talk in a fast speed and a lot. What is this?

  • That happens to me sometimes too it’s so annoying makes it seem although I’m ignoring them when I actually want to say something. My memory’s pretty bad and a lot of conversations I’ll have that end I immediately have no idea what we just talked about.

It’s like either that or I’m so on top on replying to someone that my words get all mixed up and it gets awkward real quick. It’s I can’t think of anything or am thinking of to much to the point I can’t focus on getting my words out right, I think I’m just really bad at talking.

People talking too quickly seems to be an epidemic, but then I'm old and sometimes miss some of the words anyway. I just ask people to slow down and if they won't or can't, tough, end of conversation.

The memory lapses are probably caused by being focussed on what you're going to say in reply rather than what's being said and that's common, but it's a habit you can break if you try.

That kind of happens with me, I think especially if I'm feeling tired or overwhelmed. It's like it takes extra effort to understand and respond.
