Is it normal that i get really angry and violant when i'm touched?

I'm not someone who hates when I'm touched, but I have these moments where I really can not tolerate being touched. It's like I get violent and feel the need to hit something, thankfully not someone. It's like when I have to ask someone to stop touching me, after the 3rd time I ask I get really angry and start almost breaking down. I'm not sure if it's something from my youth or if it's just one of those things that happens to some people. I'm scared I might one day hit someone or hurt myself (like punching something, NOT cutting or something like that).

Is It Normal?

  • For me I find that i usually can’t stand people touching me including my friends, (It makes me feel extremely itchi all over ) unless they are an extremely close family member. I also can’t stand people when there not standing at least 1or 2 metres away. I get really irritated when I’ve asks multiple times for them to not touch me and to stop breathing down my neck, it makes me want to lash out at them and scratch my skin till it bleeds!

  • I know I'm 10 years late, but I have the same problem, maybe worse. I cannot tolerate anyone touching me aside from maybe someone in a relationship with me. I get this blinding rage whenever someone touches me. If it's a light brush I'll just tense up and make fists momentarily but if I'm in the wrong state of mind and someone maybe hugs or pat's me on the back, I lash out. Dont know why, and I cant stop it. My mum always thought I had either autism or ADHD, but it's becoming a problem and people are getting hurt as im a very big dude. Trust me, it's not a normal trait

  • Autism maybe? Apparently this is a issue with some autistic people.

  • I don't like to be poked in the ribs. That's my only thing.

  • when someone touches you and they dont stop, you need to punch them in their face, scream "SEXUAL HARASSMENT!", or push them out the window.

  • There also could not be a specific reason why you don't want to get touched. I will very randomly not be able to handle being touched at all like on the first touch and I talked to my mom about it. She told me is has to do with when I was a baby so maybe you can talk to your parents about it. Also after you have told someone not to touch you more than once you begin to feel violated and they are not respecting your space or you at all so that could be why you feel the way you do.

  • I sometimes get kinda like that! I thinks its a psychological thing. I think you just need to learn how to control it and understand why you do it and when you do it will get much better. You there will be times when you won't want to be touched but you will have an understanding as to why and it will help you not get so angry about it.

  • I don't think that most people feel this way except maybe occasionally if they're really angry or agitated.

Try to figure out what the situations where you can't bear to be touched have in common. Writing down when it happens might help you get a better picture of what's going on. Is it certain people, gender, situation, in public, alone with someone, a certain place, what are you thinking about before or at the time, where do they touch you, are you in a certain mood? If you can figure out what's making you uncomfortable, you can better deal with the situation.

You seem quite concerned about it, which makes me think that it's becoming a problem for you. If it's a problem, you probably want to talk to a doctor or councellor about it.

  • I don't know if it's normal, but I'm a lot like that. I just can't stand being touched. I often flinch if I accidentally touch someone in a crowded public place such as a bus.
