Is it normal that i get offended when people forget my birthday

It's OK to want people to remember "your" special day in our culture, but I'd wonder about the people who always forget. If they're your friends, maybe you need new friends.

People always seem to forget my birthday and it's never properly celebrated in years. My birthday is sometimes on Memorial Day while sometimes, its around it. I still don't think it's any excuse for people not celebrate or at least wish me a happy birthday.

Why does it matter if someone remembers or forgets your birthday. I don't mean to sound rude or offensive, but you can't expect everyone to remember your birthday. It's just a day. (This being said I do not understand why people put so much importance on birthdays in general.)

My mam's birthday is on New Years Day as well. Which reminds me, I still need to get her a present...oops. Heh, it seems I have forgotten. Oh dear.

I forget my own birthday. Honestly, I don't think it's abnormal, but I don't get why it would bother you so much.
