Yeah, it's normal to feel offended, but there isn't much that you can do about it sadly. I would like to think that most of them wouldn't have wanted to do that and just lost wifi connection on their end. Maybe to avoid this, if you're having a good conversation and would like to continue it, just get their e-mail address, or give yours in the case of something happening to the connection.
I am sorry -- that isn't cool. I don't think many people go on there to have long conversation though, so I wouldn't take it personally. Maybe something that you would enjoy looking into instead is a pen pal, because that already has a sort of "social contract" of keeping in touch over a period of time.

thanks for your comment, I have gotten many emails before :)
I've got 3 emails in 2 days of barely chatting for half an hour or so and neither of them answered emails after that.
