Is it normal that i find the usage of these words disturbingly weird?

It disturbs me greatly whenever adults say that they like "girls" or "boys". While, I understand that the average adult is referring to other adults when they say this, it makes me feel like they're saying that they're attracted to children. It really creeps me out. I wish they would say that they like "men" or "women". IIN?

Is It Normal?

  • Yeah, it's all about context. The "boys" can be buddies. "Girls night out" is fine. "There are 3 girls on the US Supreme Court" is an odd way to put it.

  • Since I've been a legal adult I always preferred the term guy to boy or man.

  • It's normal to find it disturbing but at the same time it's just a figure of speech. Boys and Girls is sometimes used as a synonym for male and female.

  • I think it has a lot to do with maturity and context.

  • when you refer to an adult as a girl or boy it means you are going to have fun with other adults. eg. "me and da boys are going camping".

  • I always say girls because they are always younger than me.
I think women are too old :)
