Is it normal that I find geek culture somewhat annoying?

  • I like a lot of stuff considered "nerdy" and would be labelled a nerd by someone viewing my DVD and games collection but I don't know why people can't just like stuff and move on. It's fine if you go to conventions, cosplay, etc. but the people that shove what they like down people's throats and constantly talk about how much they hate everyone else's opinions annoy me.

Geek chic is just one of the worst things to happen to mankind. Wearing thick-rimmed glasses and a t-shirt with the word "GEEK" written on it doesn't make you a "Geek". I hate when anyone thinks they are part of a culture that they aren't. For example, I knew someone a few years ago who listened to the likes of Paramore, Kids in Glass Houses (what ever happened to them?), Fall Out Boy and all that stuff but was adamant that he was a metalhead. You aren't something just because you label yourself as it. If I say I'm black, it doesn't mean I am.
