Do you know why your mum dislikes him? She might be being deliberately contrary, or she might have genuine concerns. Try to see things from her side, and try and convince her, without starting an argument, that he is a good guy.
If your mum only has stupid, trivial concerns like how he dresses, "he isn't good enough for you" etc., just see him anyway behind your mum's back.
