Is it normal that i feel this way about people in africa?

I think that the people in Africa that are poor are bringing this upon themselves. They pee in their water and have children they don't take care of. Honestly, if your going to have children, do it at a better time when you have money. And don't have 5 kids. 1 is enough if you really want to love a child.

Is It Normal?

  • Which planet are you from exactly? 1) I really don't believe that they all pee in their water. 2) 99% don't have much choice about how they live - their corrupt govts are to blame. 3) Many don't have access to contraceptives or even if they do, they don't understand them 4) They often have many kids in the hope one or two will survive 5) "if your going to have children, do it at a better time when you have money." When you have money??? If the poorest continent in the world! Where are they going to get money from???? OMFG! Hang on this must be a troll...I can't believe anyone would be this naive.

  • Well wise one a lot of babies in Africa are rape babies. Also plenty of people in other countries have babies they can't support(This makes me angry also)

  • Please tell me you are trolling. I can't believe anyone would be so stupid as to post this and actually believe it.

  • They may not have "clean" water, as in filtered water from the tap. And they need to be educated on birth control. A lot of people in third world countries aren't aware of contraceptives, due to cultural differences. Even poorer people in first world countries need to be educated. So maybe you should volunteer to go over there and teach these practices to them, or to people in the lower social classes in your own country.

But first, you'd need to be educated yourself.

  • It's cool that you know nothing about the situation and you're telling them to get spayed.

Do you know that there are charities to bring condoms to Africa? Yeah kind of hard to choose when to have babies without contraceptives. Half the babies in the US are accidents, imagine a place with no planned parenthood.

"1 is enough if you want to really love a child." Well why don't you go to the nearest set of sibling in your area and ask them which one gets more love. Because clearly you think the only way to really love a child is to have just one.

  • I'm not trolling. Seriously if your trying to make me cry you've did it. But when you think about it why do they pee in any water, clean or not. And why would you have so many "in hopes one will survive" won't you have more food to give if you have one. I understand rape happens but other than that I see no reason for them to not keep from reproducing.

    • Another media brainwashed westerner. Have u ever been to Africa? Where do you get your info from.

First and foremost Africa is not a country. Its a Continent comprised of 54 Sovereign countries. I bet you can't name 10 of them. I am African and I am sick and tired of the images portrayed of a typical Zambian, Angolan..etc. I am Eritrean and a starving Tanzanian child can never represent me and vice-versa. Before you start asking these dumb questions try to understand the differences between these 54 countries. There is no European culture and there definitely isn't an African one. However, there is British, French, Slavic culture and so is Ugandan, Moroccan, Namibian culture. Most of these countries are comprised of more than one culture and language. Its not a homogenous society so stop portraying it as one.

I am a proud Eritrean and life expectancy is 64 years(CIA World fact book) which falls 4 years short that of Ukraine which hosted the Euro 2012, now tell me if Ukraine fits the image you are talking about.

An advert aiming to aid the starving children in countries in Africa (yes Countries in Africa) once cost nearly 1 Million USD. That money if spent on food..........I will leave it up to you to decide and by that I am considering you as a sensible person.

None of the people who contribute to charities know where their money goes. Not only the media but these charities are also responsible for portraying the same image. Instead of creating awareness by mentioning the country their charity goes to, the simply state 'Starving kids in Africa'...I am Eritrean and not a single Eritrean soul died of Starvation and I can only speak for my country and my experience, the media however doesn't broadcast it.

Someone mentioned a lot of people in African Countries don't support abortion or contraception because they believe in Christianity and its teachings. Well who is to blame for this. The Missionary Giussepe Sapeto who arrived in the shores of present day Eritrea with a Catholic Cross....or the millions like him who once used Christianity as their missile to acquire settlements in the land we now call Africa.

I am not here to teach history or the likes, but it really gets me when people talk about something they think they know. Question your sources and analyze it for yourselves before you deem it correct.

  • well they don't have contraception, They do have rape. They also have no proper functioning plumbing, animals pee in their water anyway and it's not like they've had any education about hygeine and germs and diseases. They have virtually no money. People WILL have sex any way so no point trying to spread the word of abstinence and crap. Diseases don't just come from their water and there are more than just pee in their water you realize. Believe me they are trying it's just not their fault they live miles away, medical care costs money they have none, They have to work shockingly low paid jobs because they don't have the education to get a slightly less low paid job because they were raped when they were younger therefore having to take care of the baby or have an illegal abortion because not everyone can get that 'luxury' (did i just call abortion a luxury??) and what little money they have goes to bying that one radish that is supposed to feed an entire family for the rest of the week... Okay! I'm sure i forgot something! (no they do not bring it upon themselves, it was just pure chance they were born in a horrible situation) I exaggerate to prove a point (I wouldn't call it exagerating though)

  • i do feel sorry for them but think about it if theyre really that starving and malnourished how are they still able to get pregnant??

  • Uh, you're obviously not fully educated on this matter otherwise you wouldn't have posted what you did. Yeah, some of them make mistakes and do things that ADD to the situation in Africa but for most, it's not their fault.

  • Agreed! Though I think this one is just plain naivety.

  • This story is an example why I think some (most) teachers/reporters/parents need a really hard kick in the butt.

  • Where are you getting this "pee in water" thing from? Did you see this in a movie? Read about it in an article?

Many poor people or people in lower social classes do
not adequately understand the ramifications of having numerous offspring. It's just something they need to be educated on. Education opportunities and th quality of education decreases the further you go down the poverty line.

More offspring increases lineage. If I'm the head of a tribe in the amazon, I may have sex with several different women. The more sons/daughters I produce, the greater chance that my tribe will continue to
be grow and survive, as oppose to dieing out and becoming extinct.

    • Thank you. Your the only one on this post that understands. Plus you made me understand. I get what you mean now and as far as I see it, I don't think I need anymore opinions. Thank you so much.

  • The record of the way western industries treat the environment in western countries makes a piss in a river seem like nothing.

    • That's very true...developing countries especially because of the lack of environmental controls.
