Is it normal that i feel this way about bodybuilders?

Is it normal that I think bodybuilders are gross, and I don't find them the least bit attractive. I think bodybuilders look like freakazoids.

We should feel sorry for them they are in danger everyday, behind the wheel of their car they are unable to check their blind spot

    • That's kinda funny, but it spot on as well.

The lack of flexibility grosses me out a lot. I have always been into things like ballet, martial arts, yoga, swimming, and running so the bulbous, and veiny physique combined with the the lack of flexibility is very unappealing to me. Ideally I think a lean, and natural sort of musculature is what I prefer, but I'd rather see a skinny, or even slightly overweight physique as long as there is flexibility. When a body unnatural it's grotesque.

      Thanks for your comment.

I think people who have developed muscles for some functional reason are admirable; Usain Bolt, to take a random example, has some pretty impressive muscles and low body fat, but those are necessary for him to do what he does so well.

And I think there's nothing at all wrong with those who lift weights as part of a general fitness regime.

However, the sort of body builder who wins competitions is all about surface and show. They fit in nicely with the current zeitgeist where appearance is far more important than content, but I see nothing appealing about their grotesquely exaggerated appearance or the self-obsessed mindset that allows them to gain their looks.

I kind of agree. Especially for those that take to an extreme.

My opinion is for both male and female bodies. I've watched those body building competitions and they are so very unattractive.

I'm not talking about the gender of the person with muscles, I am saying that in general it stands to reason that men are attracted less to muscle on the whole than women are.

          Comment Hidden ( show )
      • What difference would that make?

Males would see less appeal in muscle because muscle is more masculine. And most men are attracted to feminine things.

Bi guys can be attracted to muscles and masculinity.

Well no shit. That doesn't go against anything I said. On the whole a vast majority of men like feminine things significantly more than masculine things. Its like everything else, there are lots of exceptions, but still underlying principles that sway the majority.

Look at these pics. I think he really looks good.

I prefer to date guys that are aesthetically muscular, but natural.
Growing up my dad was a natural (no drugs) bodybuilder.
He did maybe a half dozen competitions, and we were raised to admire a well developed body. Although he wore trunks that were pretty much just a pouch, you'd say it was really a g-string, but it was about the natural beauty of the physique, and appreciating the work pout into it.

This is Frank Zane. Not my dad but they were both good.

    • He's not freakish looking, but he's still not what I would find appealing.

Chris Hemsworth has what I would consider an attractive male physique!

I agree. Most of them look ridiculous with their waxed chicken legs. And the way they strut is hilarious. Gym bodies are fugly. Many are drug addicts also. A fit lean athletic body is far more attractive.

Normal. Most people like some fitness but only up to a certain point. Its kinda like tit or ass size. Within reason more is better but outlandish and unreasonablly fit people take things to far to the point of disgust. However, I disagree personally. Women who bodybuild are sexy, especially when not freaky lean but still muscular like the competitive ones in the offseason. I have competed in physique once and probably won't again because I hate getting lean enough because you feel like shit and also I like being strong as well.

    • The fake orange/brown tans with the oil smeared upon bulbous glistening bodies, and body fat so low that their faces look hideous are not appealing.

Yeah I hated that to. Like who decided getting super tan and covered in oil is sexy? You have to be super tan to be competitive its so weird. I got sunburned a bunch because I didn't start tanning soon enough and had to rush it.

What do you think of oil injections? Seems to be popular in Russia.

      • Oh man, that's so gross! Anyone who would be stupid enough to do that needs to be locked up in a psych ward, and medicated for their own good. It's so freaking ugly, disfiguring, and yet simultaneously hilarious!

I'd never heard of this, but Google led me to one fool who injected six litres of a homemade oil concoction into his arms a few years back (Kirill Tereshin). Apparently, it was all about getting a million Instagram followers so he could stop working (not too sure how that's supposed to work...).

The latest story about him - from earlier this month - is that his idiocy has resulted in necrosis (the tissue in his arms is dying), and he's launched a fundraising campaign to raise money so he can come to the UK and have treatment. Doctors told him a couple of years ago that he might end up being a double amputee, but I guess his attitude was that it would be worth it for a little bit of fame.

          • That's messed up, he shouldn't have been acting like such a giant douchebag-tool.

Someone should give him free therapy on the condition that he do public service announcements about why people shouldn't inject themselves with oil to look like big, bulbous freakazoids.

I looked that shit up, and there were dudes with balloon like torsos, and skinny little legs. If that shit isn't sad, and hilarious then I don't know what is.

        • What would be an example of the type of masculine woman you like?

          Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Preference is normal. I like some muscle but it gets to a point it’s to far. But I hate seeing someone with obvious upper and core strength but skipped leg day to much.

Sometimes it can be the attitude of some body builders that turns me away from them. It sometimes makes muscles seem less appealing when lots of times on a douche who thinks he’s hot shit about it.

Like legit body builders with those giant muscles really isn’t attractive to me either but if it was some that’s not bad in my opinion.

  • I've never liked the look, personally, male or female. Oftentimes, the female body builders have to get boob implants because steroids destroys any semblance of female anatomy on their body. The implants look like donuts. The fake tans are ridiculous.

Having said all that, I am well aware of, and accept the fact that these people could take my face in one hand, lift me off the floor, and launch me through the wall.

It's normal. I like just seeing an average amount of fitness in people... mainly just lean fit. Not a mucho muscle tank of a man kind of fit.

Sure it's normal to watch those extreme steroid filled, ridiculously bulky bodybuilders on TV and think it's gross. However not every bodybuilder is that extreme. I am a girl who body builds and I don't use steroids or do any ridiculous routines, and it's the best exercise out there. It raises your metabolism, tones your muscles, and you don't have to workout everyday like other exercise. You feel the benefits days later. Unlike most other exercise.

Yeah a lot of people don't like the extremes, but what considered extreme is kind of a gray area. I wouldn't consider myself extreme but a lot of poeple do.

      • When a someone has arms that are bowed out at their sides it's simultaneously gross, and hilarious.

Extreme is pretty obvious, the people in the competitions are extreme, gross and hilarious to look at. They think people stare at them, because people are impressed, but it's because they look like sideshow freaks.
