Don't worry, Miss, I know how you feel. I came out to my mom about having a mental disorder that I've been severely struggling with today, and she did the same thing your mother did. She made a joke out of it, and even told me I was lying! My God!
Anyways, I think it's just something parents do. I think your mom is worried about how you'll make out in today's society, for they do not accepy gays/lesbians/bisexuals like they should. Maybe she is afraid that you'll get picked on or made fun of. And, trust me, I know your mom upset you, and even hurt you, when she tried to make a joke out of it, but you need to keep one thing in mind: That this is YOUR life. You choose how you live. You know what makes you happy more than your mom, or anyone else, does. If you're happier dating a girl than a guy, so be it. Don't worry about your mom. :)
Hope this helped. I'm on your side!

Thanks Lizzie, thats really sweet :D Yeah I am not well either and my mom doesn't get it so I can relate. I'm sorry to hear that I know it's tough. Perhaps your mom doesn't want to believe that you are ill. My mom refused to believe it for a long time and thought it would go away by pretending it wasn't there. Maybe get an official diagnosis if you haven't already? She will have to accept it then. It is not your fault. :)
Is it normal that I feel stupid for telling my mother?
