As I've mentioned before, we're beekeepers. I'm not seriously trypophobic, but I do feel mild discomfort when looking at holey things that freak some people out.
Honeycomb doesn't bother me at all, but looking at the frames from the part of the hive where the bees raise their young can bother me a little. The comb in that part of the hive can get very dark - almost black - after the bees have used it for a couple of years, and at some times during the year there can be a lot of empty cells. Some colonies don't nibble the wax around the top of the cells back so the entrance is a neat hexagon, but instead leave a rounded lip around the top, each of which merges neatly with the lip around adjoining cells, so what you see is a pattern of circular holes.
IIN that I feel sick when I see a series of holes together?
