Bare in mind the country they are insulting is a military empire that kills innocent civilians by the thousands. You don't see many people burning German flags. If you stopped being such murdering world-class bullies people might stop hating you in time.
Yet, I voted that what you feel is normal. That's because you have been brainwashed into believing that there's nothing wrong with what your country is doing, so it's absolutely normal for you to feel that way.
I have not been brainwashed. I don't agree with what we're doing overseas, and I think it's awful. No country is perfect, least of all Germany. (Also, I've been to Germany, it wasn't that friendly of a country.)
OK, so if you don't agree with what they do overseas we are on the same page. You should try to understand that when all those people say they hate the US, what they are really hating is what can be seen of that country from the outside of it, namely, what they do overseas, and not what inside's of it (which they can't see) namely, you.
If that flag is the symbol that accompanies all those crimes committed under the false pretense of freedom, people will feel like burning it. You should try to understand that even if they knew that it has a more profound meaning for somebody else, that would have hardly any weight on that desire.
Is it normal that I feel sad whenever people insult my country?
