Is it normal that i feel really smarter than people around me ?

Like it says in the title, I feel different than people around me, I can't really be like I am with other people because they wouldn't understand me and they would find me weird.
(I apologize if I made some mistakes in my sentences, I am French).

Is It Normal?

  • I get depressed when I think about it. Solitary girl for the most part. The moment I begin to try to start a meaningful intellectual or philosophical conversation with someone, they automatically tune out.

So for the most part im an introvert. I keep my rational thoughts to myself since the majority wont comprehend or relate.

  • I think this is absolutely normal. The majority of people I know are complete idiots. I guess that's the norm. But some people, like you or me, are way smarter than those and accomplish way more in our lifetime.

So, basically, your question is, "Is it normal to be smart?" And yes, of course it is.

  • I've felt the same quite a lot. The things I have done and got away with is unbelievable. I started putting my thoughts in to actions at fifteen. I was a fifteen year old that got away with quite a lot of crime, and not just petty crime, even when they were being fully investigated.

All in all, I think it's normal to think this, it's a mix of pride that everyone has, and a sign of over confidence. You have to be carefull how you hold with such thoughts, youcould either become a strong, thought out person or an arogant person that doesn't know their limits.

  • beware, the line between confidence and aggrogance is a razor thin one. I had the same feeling in the past, but many people are hiding under a vapid, silly exterior, an awesome person. I feel that im a great judge of charactor, but there have been causes where some i felt i had them pegged, were actually quite diffrent when you get to know them. its oky id you feel like that, but try to instill some modestly and try to take a more humble approach to people.

  • Dont think about it too much, just be grateful that you are born with brains and be humble. I dont make friends based on their intelligence but their personality. I rather have a dumb loyal and close friend that will help me in a crisis than a smart but fickle one.

  • It's normal to feel smarter if you have any sort of intellect. The average human isn't very capable.

  • I used to be under the same delusion. But then I woke up and realized that the only thing that separates the extraordinary from the ordinary and the powerful from the powerless is their creeds.

Man is equal. His ideas are not; some are superior.

  • Yes, but I have to disagree with you on one point: Not everyone is as dumb as you think they are.

Think about it. Think about how you feel-that you can not be yourself around others. How unique are you, really? Are you sure that you are the only one? Are you sure that they are not as intelligent as you, maybe even more, and you are not the one being fooled? You'd be surprised how intelligent some people are when you actually TALK to them.

Then again, some people are fools, but it is not our place to judge. Get to know people before you judge them, because, come on, do you REALLY know everyone around you?

    • I see what you mean, but, I'm not judging anyone, I'm just saying that when I "analyse" people's reactions to some situations or just an answer to a question, I know they can't make them looking stupid because they do are stupid or just "normal". A smart person wouldn't hide what they are completly, a smart person know that they can use that gift to live better whith and actally to succeed in their lives.

  • Surround yourself with other intellectuals. If you continue being content with those significantly less capable than you, it will wear on you.

  • You mean extremely self confident? and full of yourself?
Well, I have my own theory about this subject..
    You wouldn't like it.
