I used to feel like this when I had bleached or dyed hair. I felt like it wasn't a part of me and that it was some sort of mask, covering up my natural state. I did end up growing it out eventually, though.
I don't think you're strange in the slightest, although it would maybe be best to come to terms with the fact that simply straightening your hair doesn't define your whole being.
Perhaps you feel this way because you're so used to curly hair and the change feels a little odd? Try changing your style often and experimenting with looks and you'll feel like you're being true to yourself no matter what your hair is like.
